This service provides design and architecture services for environments. One of the keys to achieving maximum ROI on a virtualization investment is correctly sizing your environment. Too often, virtualization projects go awry financially because more hardware than necessary is purchased to achieve the levels of performance expected. The Design Level II includes all of Level I deliverables but adds the scalability testing to provide a more solid design. If available, an existing pilot will be leveraged and metrics gathered to determine the best architecture. At the completion of this project, you will receive a detailed report outlining the recommended design for the infrastructure based on your business requirements.

vGenii Responsibilities
The following is a list of services that vGenii staff will provide during the course of the project.

• Review your project and business requirements
• Develop a project plan to meet the business requirements
• Assist in creating appropriate end-user workflows (Level II only)
• Create a scalability test plan and test matrix (Level II only)
• Provide an initial design for validation testing
• Execute the scalability test plan as developed (Level II only)
• Identify key performance metrics to monitor
• Analyze the key performance metrics collected
• Provide a report detailing the performance analysis
• Provide a recommended architecture based on findings

Customer Responsibilities
With this project the customer is responsible for any activities not specifically identified above, including but not limited to the following activities:

• Provide a pilot environment or necessary infrastructure on-premise or in the cloud for the scalability testing (Level I or Level II)
• Provide all storage management support (Level II only)
• Provide machine names and ip address for the environment
• Provide network support services such as DNS and DHCP
• Provide access to members of the network, active directory, and database teams as necessary
• Provide SQL Database support as necessary for database creation and account authorization
• Assist in creating appropriate end-user workflows (Level II only)
• Provide access to the pilot for the purpose of gathering performance data

Deliverables
The following deliverable is provided with this offering at the completion of the engagement

• A comprehensive report outlining the testing methodology, the test environment, and the scalability test findings (Level II only)
• An architecture and design document based on the findings, best practices, and business requirements
